Treating Gum Disease
Periodontal diseases, such as gingivitis and periodontitis, are chronic bacterial infections that affect the gum and bone supporting the teeth. They are caused mainly by the accumulation of plaque on all surfaces of the teeth and result in swelling within the supporting tissue. If left untreated, it could lead to tooth loss. Our office deals with this specialty of dentistry through the maintenance of health, the diagnosis and treatment of gum disease, as well as the placement of dental implants.
Gum Disease
Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease, is an infection of the gums surrounding your teeth. Gum disease is one of the top reasons for tooth loss in adults, and because it is virtually pain free, many patients do not know they have the disease. During each regular checkup, your dentist will check for signs of periodontal disease by measuring the space between your teeth and gums.
